A Change of Heart: The Paradox of Seeking the One Who Has Already Found Us

It is an effort that does not end in disappointment, but in the complete satisfaction of finding Him. In the end, we discover that we have found Him within our own hearts, because in reality, He has never left our side.

It is curious that, while John 15:16 says: "You did not choose me, but I chose you," suggesting that He found us first, the Psalmist says: "I have sought you with all my heart."

Election vs. Intimacy: John speaks of rescue. God seeks us when we are lost and cannot save ourselves. But the Psalmist is not talking about "being saved," but about intimacy. Once God finds us, the desire to know Him more deeply is born in us.

Close Friendship: The effort the Psalm speaks of refers to cultivating a relationship. It is the desire to have the Lord near in both happy and difficult times.

The Grace that moves us: Truly, we strive to find Him only because He first put that desire in us. Our "effort" is the response of a grateful heart that wants to be where its Savior is.
